English Bulldogs

The Standard English bulldog is usually medium sized, wide, solid canine with short legs. The whole body and head are immense with extra skin on the head, thus making the forehead falling in folds. The cheeks of the English bulldog extend to the sides of the eyes. Its mouth is wide and short with a broad jaw. The color of the nose is black like any other dogs, but the English bulldog's nose have nostrils that are quite large. The eyes of the English bulldogs are usually dark and deep set, while the ears are adorably small, a bit thin, and located high on the head.

English bulldogs are prone to breathing problems. Some have small windpipes as well as poor eyesight and are very at risk to heat stroke in warm weather or hot rooms and cars. Puppies are often delivered by caesarian section because of their broad heads.

Birth defects are common in some lines. They are also known for flatulence, especially when fed any other type of food other than their regular dog food. Their Height is about 12-16 inches (31-40 cm.) and weight for males is 53-55 pounds (24-25kg and females: 49-51 pounds (22-23kg.)

French Bulldogs

The French bulldog is a small sized dog with a muscular compact frame. It has a large head which is square in appearance, medium sized eyes which are round in shape, dark colored bat ears which are extended, a black nose, and teeth which meet in scissors bite. It has medium sized legs which are strong and muscular with medium sized feet. It has a short, smooth and fine coat.

The color of the coat can be white, brindle, fawn or a mixture of brindle and white. The French bulldog is an easy going and slightly comical breed. It is good with dogs as well as other pets. It is largely a companion breed which will keep people amused. The French bulldog loves to stay indoors so is well suited to an apartment life.

They are average shedders so the short and fine coat of the breed needs to be brushed once or twice a week to maintain a healthy looking coat. It should be bathed only when necessary or can also be rubbed occasionally with a damp towel. Its eyes and ears should be cleaned properly and nail needs to be trimmed regularly to avoid any injury.

It is a fairly active breed so a daily walk is enough to take care of the dog's emotional and developmental needs. It is sensitive to very high or very low temperature so should be adequately protected. This dog has a tendency to gain weight quickly so overfeeding should be avoided.

They are prone to some health issues like Heart diseases, Eye problems, Spinal disorders, Respiratory diseases, Obesity etc. More than 80% French pups are delivered by C Section due to their large heads as well. Because of its snub nose it has difficulty to breathe in extreme temperatures and also tends to wheeze and snore. Due to acute respiratory problem French Bulldogs are banned by some airlines.
